Plastic Bottle Cap Recycling

Green Ant Plastic Recycling offer a wide range of plastic recycling services across the UK, including a plastic bottle cap recycling service. We can collect them on their own or with other plastics that you have available.

We are actively facilitating plastic recycling of all types of UK thermoplastic waste including plastic bottle caps to increase the UK plastic recycling rate and help the country meet its plastic recycling targets.

UK Wide Collections

Using an extensive network of plastic recycling associates across the UK, we are able to offer UK wide collections of your plastic bottle caps for recycling and a comprehensive set of recycling services including the shredding and granulation of the caps and, compounding of the resultant plastic regrind into a product that then can easily be injection moulded into new plastic products (maybe even new bottle caps).

Unfortunately, due to the lightweight nature of plastics we do require a minimum weight of plastic bottle caps to be collected for recycling. This minimum weight is currently 1 tonne (1000 Kgs) for FREE collections and these collections will be scheduled to co-incide with other collections of bottle caps and other plastics for recycling in your area.

We hope that in the future we can decrease the minimum weight of bottle caps required for each collection and that we can increase the frequency of collections.

Environmental Commitment

Green Ant are committed to the environment and by using our network of plastic recycling associates rather than one central plastic recycling facility, we aim to minimise the environmental impact and carbon footprint of transporting and recycling your plastic bottle caps for recycling.

Using plastic recycling facilities that are as close to the collection point as possible and by optimising the volume of bottle caps and other plastics collected on each vehicle is not only more environmentally friendly but means we can often collect smaller volumes of plastics than other larger plastic recycling companies.

Bottle Cap Recycling Requirements

The main recycling requirements for your plastic bottle caps are:-

• At the current time caps must be from drinks bottles and plastic milk bottles only (caps from shampoo bottle and the like are often a different kind of plastic which need to be kept separate). We only currently collect PEHD bottle caps.
• All paper, card, foil or rubber seals must be removed from the caps before being sent for recycling as inclusion of these in with the bottle caps will make the recycling process more difficult and could result in the bottle caps being sent to landfill.

Charity Collections

Green Ant plastic Recycling do not run a specific charity collection scheme for plastic bottle caps, however we are able to pick up and pay a contribution to your charity based on a price per tonne for bottle caps you have collected.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The minimum weight of plastic bottle caps required for charity collections is currently 5 tonnes (5,000 kgs).
